Goal and Objective
MOF UAE mobile application attempts to digitalize the departmental workings and services provisioning by the Ministry of Finance.
The MOF UAE mobile application represents a leap forward in the UAE government’s Ministry of Finance resolve to facilitate smart services to the customers and businesses. The mobile application is a part of the HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s Smart Government Initiative.
This mobile application was built to streamline Government-to-Citizen and Government-to-Business services. It will provide a simpler, faster, and safer way for the stakeholders of the Ministry of Finance to engage with the ministry easily.
It’s a bid to make individuals smarter and more aware of their expenses and become better at managing their money. Building a direct and easy communication channel is mission-critical to the Smart Government Initiative, and that’s why our focus while developing the application has been to create a satisfactory communication channel for the application users.
The MOF UAE is not the only platform built by the government to meet the user’s requirements. Still, it is one of the major applications to be built on these lines and help the government of UAE creates an integrated and connected system.
What is MOF UAE?
MOF UAE mobile application attempts to digitalize the departmental workings and services provisioning by the Ministry of Finance. The application will connect the individuals and businesses directly with the Finance ministry, bringing more accessibility into the entire system.
Client's Requirements for the project
- An application that can help the users request, track, and complete due payments to the different departments of the ministry from anywhere.
- The users can submit suggestions, lodge complaints, and provide feedback to the ministry.
- The Ministry of Finance also wanted to share the financial news and information with the people to raise transparency.
- The same application meant for businesses also helps individual customers manage their budget with an in-built Smart Wallet.
- A functional system needed by the Ministry for creating registration forms, interacting with the users, complaint resolution, addressing the customer queries, report publishing, and access, issuance of certificates, licenses, and tax information, initiating payments, refunds, and addressing corruption complaints.
- The Smart Wallet is supposed to help the users manage their expenses. Smart Identity is supposed to digitize the Emirates ID Card so that people always carry their government-issued ID card with them.
Challenges Faced
For the challenges faced, we created effective solutions for every part with some A/B testing, of course. For the security issues, we added two-factor authentication to provide the required security. This gave the users higher control over their transactions with the application and ensured effective security.
For the regulatory part, a dedicated person was asked to understand the financial and regulatory systems in the country to authenticate our work and efforts. Lastly, the customer experience challenges were solved by creating different buyer personas and using public polls to understand the end-users expectations.
Solution We Provided
- Data Security: One of the foremost challenges we faced was data security. As it is a financial application, the clients wanted to provide the highest level of security to the users. We needed to ensure that the customer’s data was safeguarded.
- Regulation: Another challenging aspect of building this application was adhering to the regulatory requirements. From taxation to budgeting and everything in between, the UAE’s financial regulatory system is unique. The challenge for us was to understand the nuances and implement them accurately.
- Customer Experience: While building the application, our research and analysis hit a bump as we faced a challenge with understanding the UAE mobile user. Due to the diversity among people using mobile and their underlying operating systems, we had to create a detailed buyer persona to build the perfect interface.
Key Features We Integrated
This mobile application was built to streamline Government-to-Citizen and Government-to-Business services. It will provide a simpler, faster, and safer way for the stakeholders of the Ministry of Finance to engage with the ministry easily.
Registration and Renewal
Individual users and businesses can gain access to government tenders and the latest practices. It also allowed them to re-register to the Suppliers Federal Records after license expiration.
Suggestions and Complaints Resolution
The application enables the users to submit suggestions and send replies about the Gulf Common Market and GCC Customs Unions.
Issue Reports
The MOF can publish annual reports, budgets, and other financial instruments, which will be accessible by the users.
Issue Documents
The ministry can also issue VAT and Tax Domicile certificates to individuals and corporations.
Smart Identity
A Smart Identity system will help the users substitute biometric authentication with the application and ensure seamless ID validation.
